CALL for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers to join the special research program “Immunometabolism”

About the program:

Three Austrian Universities located in Vienna and Graz combine forces to explore the immunometabolic interaction of macrophages with tissues. We are looking for 6 PhD and 6 postdoctoral researchers joining our team consisting of 8 principal investigators with complementary expertise in mouse genetics, energy and lipid metabolism, immunology, epigenetics, microbiome, and cell biology. Depending on the affiliation of the respective research group researchers will work at the Medical University of Vienna (MUV), the Medical University of Graz (MUG), or the University of Graz (UG).


What we offer:

A multidisciplinary and dynamic research environment: The research program is designed to provide a collaborative and synergistic environment for all researchers enabling a reciprocal access to technologies and infrastructure, joint seminars, regular retreats, as well as training in different laboratories of the consortium.

Career development and training: Researchers are encouraged to present their work to the scientific community at international conferences, to apply for scientific visits to other labs, to review and write manuscripts and to co-organize meetings. Doctoral students will be enrolled for PhD studies at their universities and postdocs will be offered special education and training programs at the Immunology Research Cluster (MUW) and BioTechMed Graz (MUG and UG) that will support, nurture, and challenge the development of excellent research competences and transferable skills.

 

Attractive employment conditions: Researchers will work fulltime for up to four years. Gross salary is in compliance with the collective agreement for employees of FWF-projects including social benefits. 

What we require:

Applicants for PhD positions must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a Master in any discipline of life sciences. Applicants for Postdoc positions must have a PhD in any discipline of life sciences. Postdoctoral applicants should have a deep background in molecular biology, OMICS technologies including metabolomics, immunology, or microbiology. Excellent written and spoken English skills are required.
